You'd think that a photographer loves the sun, bright blue skies, nice and warm and generally who doesn't? But no, the sun around midday can be an absolute nightmare to shoot in and that just so happened to be the time that Katie & Gemma's engagement shoot was taking place in sunny Kilmarnock.
Having only been once (to get tattooed for my 30th birthday) I was happy to revisit and see the location the girls decided to have their photoshoot in. The park itself was rather nice with plenty of photographic opportunities. The sun did cause some issues and with the lack of shade it made things slightly harder than it normally would have been but we persevered and got some great photos in the end. Engagement shoots are a great way for me to bond with couples and makes the wedding day shoot go smoother as you know what to expect and I get to see what works for you as far as posing and direction is concerned.
I'm a city boy at heart so we decided to change things up a little and head into the town centre and see what was available there. Spotting a multi story car park I just had to visit the top and we were rewarded with some good views and then we used the railway bridge to finish the shoot. All in, a good shoot in tricky conditions but Katie & Gemma were great throughout and let me try some new poses which worked rather well.
